Juneteenth

Art

Juneteenth is an important day that marks the end of slavery in the United States, observed every year on June 19. It serves as a moment for reflection, education, and celebration, typically characterized by family reunions, music, and feasting. My mixed media artwork for Juneteenth was crafted to pay tribute to this day and the profound cultural legacy it embodies. The family depicted in my painting wears clothing with significant symbolism. An African baobab tree stands in the background, symbolizing the Ancestors who watch over and protect the modern-day family.

Mixed media art is a vibrant and expressive form of art that combines various materials and techniques, allowing for a unique exploration of themes and stories.
